The one time I was asked during a session with The Island Renaissance on what my favourite art pieces are, my mind pulls one of its famous blanks, and I forget it’s name!!!
Partly due to Suresh De Silva : Wordsmith – Value Creator dropping a few bombs on me, during the session! How easy it is to miss things happening behind a veil of bravery & perseverance, two qualities I very much associate with him!
I vaguely remember it being around 1996, and I was 12/13 maybe? I was at a 31st night bash at a hotel in Colombo called Trans-Asia, now called Cinnamon Lakeside, with my folks, & a few family friends & their kids.
The night sky was stunning, there were so many stars visible, and we as kids a few feet off the ground (I was a very short kid), were transfixed! Ever since then, at any event, be it casual, corporate, celebration etc etc, I would always step out for a breath of fresh air, and stargaze. Apparently suresh has seen me do this.
Theres something about a clear night sky, devoid of clouds with stars twinkling in the inky blackness, that somehow sets my mind and ease and gives me a strange sense of contentment! It also reminds me of how small we are in the grand scheme of things.
Starry night, feeling of peace, contentment, and a reminder that we all walk our own path.
Café Terrace at Night, a reminder that I share my journey with many, and I need to walk as gently as possible with those whom I care for, and those who need it, and that I must somehow contribute positively, at least to a few lives before I close my eyes on mine!
“I don’t know anything with certainty, but seeing the stars makes me dream.”
